Extracting Material from a PDF
Hello. We have a print product that is produced by sending PDFs to the printer. These PDFs are then posted to a website, behind a registration wall, which our clients can access via a web application. What we would like to do is to automatically extract parts of these PDFs and have them appear on another part of the website that doesn't require registration. The parts we want extract are either images or text (or both). We would then add additional meta information to the extracted parts.
Is there a way through meta tagging (or XML? or another method?) to mark the parts of the PDF to be extracted and then have those parts automatically extracted to html/image/whatever files. We want this to be as hands-off as possible and we'd like it, of course, to be as cost-effective as possible.
Is this possible and what would be the best way to implement this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
