For some reason the .PDX index file created by Catalog needed me to keep the total path name to a shortened number of characters (maybe 26 or something like that) and screamed an error message at me more than once when I didn't. I'm pretty sure it was more the .pdx file than the .pdf file that gave me this message not long ago. I ended up moving the files closer to the root level and shortened the names of folder and pdf/pdx files involved. I use Windows NT 4.0.
