I had a project that was sort of similar, in that I needed to calculate what otherwise was an Excel spreadsheet (dang! it sure would be nice if the Create PDF macro was also able to read the cell calculation strings and convert them to JavaScript but---hey, wait! I'm going to be taking Visual Basic and Java next term, so maybe I'll figure it out on my own and stop doing this stuff!).
I went to www.pdfzone.com and did a search for calculations. What was posted there from Ted Padova didn't really relate to my project, but gave me enough insight to figure it out for myself.
essentially, you can create a custom calculation that
a. Defines a variable "n" based on the contents of a field. b. Define additional variables based either on another field or on their own. c. run this as a calculation.
