Yes! I understood and actually suspected that the XObject's were the most likely way to preserve the needed information. I didn't know that OPI 1.3 and 2.0 required separate considerations, however, which is very useful for me to know for future projects.
Now, I guess there is currently no alternative to running the PostScript through the OPI before PDF'ing than switching the RIP.
