RE: Recovering data from PDF -> Word
In addition to the Redwing application from Monarch, Ambia Corporation has a competing product called "Aerial".
You can reach their site on the web at:
http://www.ambia.com/
They offer a 30 day evaluation demo for download.
Both of these products mention that they are aimed at the text conversion aspect of PDF files. I haven't had any success in finding a simple method to extract large amounts of illustrations or graphics from a .PDF doc.
I haven't used either of these products. But I will be downloading the Aerial demo and experimenting with it this week. The site information indicates Aerial will extract to .RTF (which generally imports well to MS Word), and the Redwing version mentions it is optimized for use with their Monarch data extraction and reporting tool. Don't know how that relates to Word Processing.
One final consideration is the price... Aerial lists for under $50, and Redwing for closer to $700.
