I think that you need to read the built in help files that come with acrobat, as this issue is quite a large one, create pdf uses a faster but less reliable method of producing pdf files, it does not use distiller in the same way as creating a postscript job and distilling it...it is also not recommended for producing and documents with eps or bitmap images. Also if you have selected compress text and line art that may explain the font problem, and if you are using the jpeg compression option that may also account for the loss of quality in the images. Also note Screen optimised does not embed fonts
