I have purchased and installed the Acrobat 7 Pro upgrade for the Mac OS. I am running OS 10.3.8.
The installation was problem-free, and I am pleased that A 7 launches noticeably more quickly than A 6 did. I am also pleased that, by unchecking "Open windows maximized, except when document specifies otherwise" in Preferences > Page Display, a PDF no longer automatically blows up to the entire size of the display.
Now, one question I do have is about Magnification > Default Zoom. The Adobe Help function says:
==== Default Zoom
Sets the magnification level for PDF documents when they are first opened. This value overrides document settings.
==== The default value for this function immediately after installation was "Automatic." I generally prefer PDFs to open at about 125% of actual size. I tried selecting that value in place of automatic, but it appears that PDF still open at 100%, even after altering the default value in preferences, quitting Acrobat, and even after restarting the computer.
Default Zoom sounds like the function that I should be using to set the default magnification, but for some reason, changing the value does not seem to have any effect. What is Default Zoom all about if it does not set the default magnification at which a PDF is displayed?
Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions. --
