Re: Acrobat 7 Keeps Losing a Required Component -- Again!
I have previously, e.g., on 14 April, mentioned that, several times since I upgraded to Acrobat Pro V.7 for Mac, when I have tried to convert a Postscript File to a PDF, I have received the following message:
= "Error
A required component was not found. Please restore the Adobe Acrobat Distiller Folder from your original CD."
= or, when trying to open a PDF, I have received the following message:
= Adobe Acrobat could not install correctly. A required component was not found. Please restore the Adobe Acrobat folder from your original CD."
= After reinstalling, everything would be fine... until the next time. After about two weeks of peace, I have just received the latter error message once again.
I have not moved or renamed any of the files that Acrobat installed. As an experiment, before reinstalling Acrobat the last two times, I tried repairing the disk directory, first using Apple's Disk Utility, then using Alsoft's Diskwarrior Repairing the disk directory has made no difference with regard to the above-quoted error messages.
When I asked, on 14 April, "Why do Acrobat and Distiller keep losing (or losing track of) files?," Nini Tjäder suggested that I might try installing the v7.0.1 update. I did that immediately upon Nini's suggestion, but the problem has now recurred. So apparently, the update has not fixed this problem.
I do not want to sound paranoid, but am I the only one to whom this is happening?
Mac OS 10.3.9 on a 2x 800-MHz Quicksilver G4, previously OS 10.3.8.
Many thanks in advance for any suggestions. --
