First off, this is my point, transparency is not "GREAT" for prepress work. The problem is that Adobe has made it possible to save it for print production ready files (EPS).
As far as the fact that Adobe does not make all the Rip's is all well and good, but the fact is that the 3 major workflow's available use Adobe technology (Brisque, Prinergy & Apogee). So I think it viable for me to be upset with Adobe for providing the means for designers to create transparency so easily, but not for us to reproduce it in print.
As for the documents that Adobe has created regarding this issue, it is a little too late for the majority of users that already have Illustrator 9 and are producing documents destined for print. I'm not looking for workarounds or excuses, I just want Adobe to do their job and make the tools available to the RIP vendors to support such technologies.
