Most of the PostScript is produced by the print driver. The two operating systems have different print drivers, with different problems. The only time the application programmer has to resort to writing PostScript is when they want to exploit a feature of PostScript that the standard print architecture for the operating system doesn't support (EPS graphics, for example).
Having said that, I would expect the marks on the page to be pretty close to identical.
