You've left the extent of the problem (just bitmaps in PDFs?) and reason for all caps blurred, but I can only surmise that either a program has replaced a library with its own, that display or print drivers are wrecking Distiller's life in a similar manner, or that Acrobat was installed with parameters that convinced it images should be blurry. That I've heard of this before doesn't help: One person reinstalled to get bliss, the next reinstalled *WINDOWS* and all else (twice) to get ah...well, Acrobat worked. Another time the license number wasn't entered correctly. Good luck...hey, are you running Solaris?

If IBM Antivirus or such was not already installed to audit this, you may wish to compare the .DLLs in /windows/system with the ones on the Win98 CD.
