A followup to my posting about this subject on the InDesign list (as a TAN) yielded a suggestion from Øyvind Pettersen to try CDEverywhere from http://www.i2rd.com/CDEveryWhere/. This looks very promissing as it claims to produce cross-platform CDs from any system so no need to but a Mac just for this purpose. Has anyone tried it and can recommend it?
This was my original post. >> I am on Windows-based system but have a requirement to make cross-platform compatible, hybrid CDs. I had been using an older Mac with OS 8.6 using Toast. I'm in the market for a newer system and wondered if you can help me with model and operating system recommendations. I am required by IEEE to create Acrobat 5 version PDFs since there are some issues with the search index between Windows and Mac operating systems. I use Acrobat 5 now to create the search index but have Acrobat 6 as well.
As far as I know, all I need the system for is to burn cross-compatible CDs so a used system seems to make sense. I think I will only need to purchase Toast since I will still create the master on my Windows platform systems. >>
Thanks for any help in understanding actual experience using it.
PS: Digest user so feel free to copy my directly.
