Here's the method we use, which does not require you to add a button to each PDF in order to return to the menu..
A collection of plug-ins called xToolsOne from xman software contains the plug-in "xHomePDF" which adds a button to the Acrobat (Reader or full) toolbar. The button has a "house" icon on it. Pressing the button returns you to the most recently encountered "home" document. Documents are invisibly marked as "home" documents using another plug-in, "xMakeHomePDF". We mark our French and English menu PDF's, and our clients can press the "home" button at any time to return to the last menu PDF they visited.
