Re: unscramble a document-Mac Symbol font
To expand on Peter Gold's suggestion:
On Mac O/Sv6.0 it's named the "System" file--In 7.? it becomes the "Font" directory. Finally we dont' call a dir a file anymore. Anyway, the maximum total size of the files in "System" should not exceed your actual memory (RAM, don't count virtual memory). If it exceeds the size of your RAM, it will probably crash your drive _badly_. It took me several attempts to recover mine.
Even if it's within 4M, you'll probably encounter slowdowns, and possibly strange application behavior. It's just not worth the bother, with RAM so cheap these days. Heck, somone had 64M at 237 at MacWorld!
It's amazing how much difference a DIMM makes! --gp
